Läkare för Miljön skriver under Nordic Doctors for the Environments petition till UNHCR!
12 april 2026
LfM signs petition to the United Nations Human Rights Council to recognize the universal human right to a mutually healthy relationship with nature Nordic Doctors for the Environment is proud to announce the signing of a global petition to the UNHRC, joining a growing coalition of civil society organizations, health professionals, and local communities. This initiative, launched by a coalition of Nordic Doctors for the Environment NGOs, calls for the urgent recognition of the human right to a mutually healthy relationship between humans and nature.
While the 2022 recognition of the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment was a landmark achievement, the escalating biodiversity crisis proves that a passive right to an ”environment” is no longer enough. We believe that access to healthy nature and ecosystems is a fundamental human right, critical to human health and societal functioning, and should not be reserved only for the wealthiest.
By signing this declaration, LfM affirms that the health of humans, nature, and the planet are inseparable. We invite all interested organizations and stakeholders in our network to:
- Sign the petition to stand with us in this global movement.
- Download this media package to help spread the word.
- Support the initiative by publishing news of your signing and sharing information about this opportunity within your own networks.
